Indian Institute of Arbitration & Mediation offers memberships to corporates, business groups, insurers, law firms, professional organizations, professionals and individuals. Members shall have one vote at the General Meeting of the Institute and for election of members to the Governing Council.

Member will be given a badge source code titled “Member of the Indian Institute of Arbitration & Mediation” to be placed in their web site.

CATEGORIES OF IIAM MEMBERSHIP

Patron Members:

Subject to their consent, the Chief Justice of India, Chairman, Law Commission, Government of India, the Chief Justices of the High Courts in India, the Attorney-General, the Solicitor-General, the Advocates-General of States, the Home Minister, the Finance Minister, the Minister of Law & Justice and the Minister for Human Resource Development in the Government of India will be invited to be the Patron Members of the Institute.

Charter Members:

Charter Members shall mean and include founder members who took active part in promoting and establishing the Institute.

Ex-officio Members:

Ex-officio Members shall mean and include present or retired Judges of the High Court or Supreme Court, Bureaucrats, Professors of Law with a teaching experience of 15 years in a Law College or University or Research Institute, Judicial Officers with 15 years experience in State Judicial Services and who pays a sum of Rs. 15,000/- to the corps of the Institute.

Corporate Members:

Corporate Members shall mean and include distinguished persons, organizations, institutions or corporates who are recognized and accepted by the Governing Council as a Corporate Member and who pays a sum of Rs. 5 lakhs to the corps of the Institute or becomes a partner of IIAM Community Mediation Service and pays a sum of Rs. 3 lakhs to the corps of the Institute.

Ordinary Members:

Ordinary Members shall mean and include any person who is not a minor or any organization, institution, corporate or association and who is accepted by the Governing Council as an Ordinary Member and who pays sum of Rs. 1,00,000/- to the corps of the Institute or becomes a partner of IIAM Community Mediation Service and pays a sum of Rs. 50,000/- to the corps of the Institute or who pays a sum of Rs. 25,000/- and yearly subscription of Rs. 10,000/-.

Reciprocal Members:

Reciprocal Members shall mean and include reputed organizations or institutions, including, but not limited to Chambers of Commerce, Trade organizations, Bar Associations, Professional Associations, which offer membership to the Institute on reciprocal arrangement accepting Ordinary Membership or Associate Membership of the Institute. The membership shall be valid till the reciprocal arrangement continues. The Franchisee of the Institute shall also be a Reciprocal Member with Ordinary membership, till the period of the Franchise.

Associate Members:

Associate Members shall mean and include any person who is not a minor or any organization, institution, corporate or association and who is accepted by the Governing Council as an Associate Member and who pays sum of Rs. 25,000/- to the corps of the Institute or who pays a sum of Rs. 7500/- and yearly subscription of Rs. 5000/-. 

THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING IIAM MEMBER

  • Charter Member, Ex-officio Member, Corporate Member, Ordinary Member, Reciprocal Member and Associate Member shall have one vote at the General Meeting of the Institute and for election of members to the Council.

  • Reciprocal Members, who as per the reciprocal arrangement does not provide the right to IIAM to stand for election in its governing body, will have the right of an Associate Member. Otherwise the Reciprocal Member shall have the rights of an Ordinary Member.

  • Associate Members shall not be eligible to stand for election to the Council, but shall otherwise, on payment of the relevant subscription, be able to enjoy the benefits and rights attached to Members.

  • Members will be eligible for special concessions or priorities to attend seminars conferences etc. organized by the Institute.

  • IIAM brings you the latest legal position of ADR and DPM methods by way of its newsmagazines / periodicals absolutely free.

  • IIAM provides you opportunity for participation in training programs, seminars, workshops on ADR organized by IIAM and other international institutions, either free or at a reduced rate.

  • IIAM gives you an option of settling your disputes by way of arbitration which provides you a dispute resolution method which has the same legal status of a court proceedings, but which does not have its hostile atmosphere, rigid formalities and which takes care of your convenience and gives you total confidentiality.

  • IIAM gives you the options to prevent and manage disputes through IIAM DPM services.

TERMS OF IIAM MEMBERSHIP

  • The application for membership of the Institute shall be made in writing together with the applicable membership fees and deposited with the Governing Council who shall at their absolute discretion decide whether such applicant is to be made a Ex-officio / Corporate / Ordinary / Reciprocal / Associate Member of the Institute or not and if such application is rejected the said application money shall be refunded within a period of 30 days of such refusal without any interest.

  • The IIAM Member on requirement of utilization of IIAM services, shall utilize the same in accordance with the IIAM Arbitration / Mediation Rules in force.

  • The IIAM member agrees that they are willing to refer their dispute with any of the other IIAM member(s) for IIAM ADR.

  • The IIAM member agrees that they will not try to influence the IIAM arbitrators / mediators or the IIAM staff to secure their personal gain.

  • Annual IIAM memberships shall lapse on non-renewal of membership fees.

  • All or any rates are subject to change without prior notice.
