Trying to get a higher qualification to better yourself, and so improve your talent and employment possibilities, can be difficult if you need to attend expensive classes while trying to keep your job. That might be is the biggest advantage to distance education. It gives you the ability to get your qualification by working at your own pace while putting in the hours you can. Distance learning is also an advantage to those who have moved to other countries for employment reasons and want to better themselves but cannot attend regular institutions or colleges. The distance education facilities will conduct programs by correspondence, when you send your work through the mail, or over the Internet. Certificate in Dispute Management (CDM)

Course structure

CDM is a distance learning course valid for six months from the date of enrolment. You can enroll at any time of year and you study entirely at your own pace, submitting your assignments when you are ready.

Your tutor will be available to mark your assignments and give feedback on your progress for a period of six months from the date of enrolment. 

Course manuals

The course manual forms the main part of the course materials for each module. It is comprehensive, high quality and up-to-date.  

Reading and study assignments

You will be sent four ‘reading and study assignments’ with your course materials, and these form an essential part of your distance learning course. They are designed to help you to work through the course manual and understand the concepts. Each assignment consists of a problem evaluation and should be no more than 2,500 words. Through answering the assignment you will apply the knowledge you have gained through your reading, and test your understanding of the concepts. You will send your assignments to your tutor by post or email as you complete them. Written feedback will be given to help you to identify those subjects where you need to improve your understanding and interpretation of the material.

Program summary

The course will provide a good basic knowledge of ADR – Negotiation, Mediation & Arbitration – in theory and practice.

This course is in 2 Modules and costs Rs. 7500/- (US$165 / €115) towards tuition fee and Rs. 750/- towards handling charges within India or Rs. 2000/- (US$45 / €30) towards handling charges outside India. The first part of the course will be sent out on receipt of the completed application form and payment. The second part will be sent out on completion of the first module. 

On successfully completing the assignments included in the course a certificate will be awarded, along with the course transcript.

As per IIAM Mediator Accreditation System, a candidate with CDM is categorised as Grade C Mediator. For details on IIAM Accreditation system and QAP.

MODULE 1 – TITLE: Basics on Negotiation & Mediation

Module Synopsis Study of conventional types of negotiation and the alternatives for principled negotiation and its stages and method. Styles of negotiation and preparing to effective negotiation. Overview on mediation based on evaluative and facilitative methods. Assessment Strategy Assessment is by evaluation of the assignment given at the end of the module.

 

MODULE 2 – TITLE: Dispute Management ADR Methods

Module Synopsis Comparative study of mediation and Conciliation and the methods of mediation. Arbitration and its style of dispute resolution. Analysis of systems of mediation and arbitration and various laws and rules. Assessment Strategy Assessment is by evaluation of the assignment given at the end of the module.

Eligibility: All professionals and persons who have undergone basic graduate-level education are eligible for enrolment in this program. Law and Management students are also eligible to enroll for this program.
