IIAM Community Mediation Service - International

IIAM is of the view that the Indian community overseas is in need of a well structured, responsible and responsive machinery that can aptly suit the Indian mindset sensitive to the cultural propensities and susceptibilities for peaceful resolution of conflicts amongst themselves. The system of family/elder assistance enjoyed by Indian families for resolving family/social issues in India is also not available for Indian families abroad.

IIAM offers the concept of IIAM Community Mediation Service for setting up “Mediation Clinics”, which would provide a platform for the members of the Indian Community to resolve any dispute amongst them or their family in a private, confidential and non-adversarial way. The principles of mediation can actually be used to resolve any misunderstanding or dispute in any facet of our life. In fact, applying the principles properly at the earliest signs of conflict can help keep a situation from escalating into a full blown, knockdown, drag out fight, or worse. Moreover there is a large number of highly eminent and respectable Indian population, who could contribute some of their time to work as Mediators. It’s a leadership skill that is well worth developing and honing. Apart from the acceptance and honour given by the community, it also gives absolute satisfaction of becoming peace builders in the community.

To promote the concept of IIAM Community Mediation Service, we are forming IIAM Community Mediation Committee, consisting of eminent, socially oriented people from among the Community and nominees from IIAM Governing Council. Amongst them, we will have a few members, as Ambassadors of IIAM CMS who can actively devote some time in the propagation of mediation and who can act as principal mediators and trainers. It would serve as a tool to bring in greater harmony and orderliness and enhancing the reputation and credibility of Indians in such communities.

We are in the formation of such committees and if you are interested in joining with this idea in order to spearhead the efforts of opening mediation clinics or centers, please contact the Hon. Ambassadors mentioned below or contact IIAM.
